Botswana to host ICN Agency Effectiveness Workshop

The International Competition Network (ICN) Steering Committee, in conjunction with the Agency Effectiveness Working Group (AWEG), the African Competition Forum (ACF), and the Competition Authority will hold an Agency Effectiveness Workshop in Gaborone, Botswana from 10th to 11th March 2016.

The AWEG, which is one of the ICN’s five working groups, focuses on various aspects contributing to efficient and effective enforcement of competition rules such as the institutional and operational characteristics of competition agencies.

The AWEG hosts annual workshops intended to provide a platform for competition agencies to share experiences, evaluate their effectiveness, engage in strategic planning, set priorities, develop project delivery and knowledge management techniques, and improve their investigative processes with the overall aim of improving the quality of agency operations and procedures.

Participants are scheduled to discuss among others topics; key factors for a successful and effective agency and good institutional design, effective project delivery and investigations, key challenges in prioritisation for small and big competition agencies, agency ethics, accountability and communication as well as human resources, recruitment and knowledge management.

The two-day workshop will be held at the Phakalane Golf Estate Hotel Resort with at least 70 participants from the ICN member countries worldwide.
