CCA and BNLS Sign MoU to Facilitate Consumer Access to Services

The Competition and Consumer Authority (CCA) and the Botswana National Library Service (BNLS) on 23rd April 2023 signed a memorandum of understanding under a partnership aimed at facilitating consumer access to CCA’s services across the country.

Speaking at the signing ceremony today, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture, Mr. Kitso Kemoeng commended the CCA for having been innovative in its approach.

“Instead of building offices all over the country at huge costs, they decided to find a partner in government who has the largest footprint in the country. Through this partnership, CCA customers will not have to wait to access information about its services while the scarce resources are still being sought to establish offices in various Districts around the country”, he said.

In her remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of the CCA Ms. Tebelelo Pule implored consumers and businesses to utilise the services offered under this partnership instead of travelling long distances to access CCA services.

She said it is heartening that government agencies are collaborating to bring services closer to the people and in the process saving government money in the provision of services.

Ms. Pule further implored Batswana to read and utilise the Library service which is a depository for knowledge.

Under this BNLS/CCA partnership, consumers will be able to file their complaints and receive educational materials through the countrywide BNLS network starting with 12 public libraries in Lobatse, Kanye, Jwaneng, Ghanzi, Hukuntsi, Tsabong, Mahalapye, Serowe, Selibe-Phikwe, Kasane, Maun, and Shakawe.

BNLS has a network of 45 public libraries and 59 Village Reading Rooms across the country. Currently, CCA operates from its head office in Gaborone, and a branch in Francistown.
